The following tips are designed to assist you in detailing your car, truck or recreational vehicle.   For specific detailing needs not addressed in this section please e-mail us:   hawgwash1@yahoo.com.  For the best results using our “Waterless Technology” products we recommend that you purchase a complete detail kit (Item  Code 3441).   It contains I full size bottle of six products which include Dri Wash ‘n Guard® Ultra-Ion w/Pumper;All Weather Tire and Trim Treatment; Fabric, Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner; Leather and Vinyl Treatment; Premium Metal Polish and Oxygone® (Feather Scratch Remover and Paint Enhancer).

We will cover each item in the detail kit and the recommended application for various components of the vehicle. For this illustration, we will use a 2000 Saturn LS.

(These products are excellent for Cars, Trucks, RV's, and more!!!)

Dri Wash ‘n Guard® Ultra-Ion is our product of choice for the paint on model year 2000 and newer vehicles.   For 1999 and older vehicles you may choose to substitute Dri Wash ‘n Guard® CLASSIC for  Ultra-Ion.    At HAWGWASH, LLC®, we will demonstrate “OUR” techniques in detailing which should save you time and hopefully make your automotive cleaning a much more enjoyable experience.

Most people when detailing their vehicles immediately begin with the paint and once that is done they very carefully try to do all the trim work; body emblems, side molding, door handles, window trim, windshield cowling, etc…so we are going to go against all traditional methods and begin with the TRIM…You will need a 1” natural bristle paint brush and a Micro fiber buffing Towel which will exclusively be used with the All Weather Tire and Trim Treatment.   Beginning at the front of the vehicle spray the Tire and Trim Treatment on all plastic trim parts to include:  license plate frames (both front and back), headlight trim pieces, fender moldings, windshield cowling and windshield wiper arms, window and door moldings, plastic mirror housing, side emblems and tail light trim . Work product into all these areas with the paint brush and allow to dry.                                                                                                                                                          Back to top

With the All Weather Tire and Trim Treatment, spray the product onto the tires and wheels if there is a heavy buildup of brake dust or other dirt.   Work the product into the rubber with the paint brush and let dry.   Congratulations, you are well on you way to completing your first WATERLESS  TECHNOLOGY detail.   Any product that has spilled onto the painted surface will now be cleaned up as we begin to do the paint.                                                                                                                                           Back to top

At HAWGWASH, LLC®, we like to divide the car into quarters when cleaning the painted surfaces…starting with the roof spray Dri Wash ‘n Guard® Ultra-Ion onto the roof starting in the front center and working to the side.   Polish in product with the micro fiber applicator pad (Item Code HW002) and let stand.   Move to the other side and from the  front center repeat the process as you work towards the side.   Apply product to the rear section of the roof working to the side and finally to the last section of the roof working to the side.   Polish thoroughly using the applicator pad and allow to haze.  With a Micro fiber buffing towel (Item Code HW001) buff to a brilliant finish.

Next, move to the hood and begin in the center and spray product to the fender edge and polish with micro fiber applicator pad.  Move to other side and from the center repeat the process to the other fender edge.   Allow product to haze and then with the micro fiber buffing towel, polish to a finish.  From that point repeat the process on the right front fender and then move to the left front fender.

(Can you see the finished shine just below the mirror?)

Next from the right front door to the left front door….Now wait a minute…we are jumping from one side of the car to another and what is the purpose. Well, we have an answer…By moving back and forth on the car, it will give you an opportunity to look at areas already done to see if there is “ANY” piece that might need a little touch up.  In other words you are double checking your own work.

Now, move on to the rear doors where applicable and repeat the process.

Next we will move to the trunk area and from the center outwards in each direction we will repeat the application process                                                                                                                                                                    Back to top

Moving to the right rear and left rear fenders keep working towards the rear bumper area.

Now we have three areas remaining…Tires/Wheels, Front Grill and window glass.

On the front grill, if there is a heavy buildup of bugs or other foreign material, the Leather and Vinyl Treatment is a great product for removing them. Spray directly onto the surface and with a terry cloth cottontowel wipe the area until clean…Always follow up the cleaning with Ultra-Ion.                      Back to top

Let’s move back to the tires and wheels which previously were sprayed with the All Weather Tire and Trim Treatment.  With a terry cloth towel wipe the surface of the wheel and tire to remove any residue and lightly buff the rubber.  Once the wheel is clean, you will want to apply  Dri Wash ‘n Guard® Ultra-Ion for added shine and protection.  For more luster on the tires, spray an additional coat of Tire  and Trim Treatment and lightly buff.                                                                                                                                     Back to top

For the glass…using the applicator pad, spray a “LIGHT sprayof Ultra-Ion onto the glass and polish up and down from the center working tothe side and then repeat working to the other side. Allow product to haze and then with a “CLEAN” micro fiber towel polish to a finish.  Repeat the process on all glass areas.

NOTE:   Ultra-Ion is safe for use on factory and after market window tinting.

Congratulations…you have now experienced the wonderful world of WATERLESS TECHNOLOGY and have completed your first detail using these simplified methods.

…and from HAWGWASH, LLC® to you, we want to “THANK YOU” because you have just saved nearly 200 gallons of our most precious natural resource…”WATER”.    Well now…let’s take “five” and we will discuss cleaning the interior of your vehicle.                                                                               Back to top

Now that we have completed the exterior detail of your vehicle, let’s get started on that interior.

First of all,  remove everything not attached to the vehicle, for example; floor mats, ash trays, console inserts, dash board covers and pick up all the loose “stuff’ between the seats, under the seats, crammed into door panels, etc.   You will first want to vacuum the interior.  There are several good 12 volt vacuums available through local retail stores, however a good SHOP VAC is ideal for better suction.   It also has a large debris canister that is accessible should you vacuum up that special set of earrings or  $75.00 in pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters that always seem to find their way under the seat, in the console, in the door panels or wherever else you toss your loose change when going thru the fast food venues.   Once the interior has been vacuumed, we are going to start with the rear seat, deck lid, and floor area.  If you have cloth seats, you will want to use Dri Wash ‘n Guard® Fabric, Carpet and Upholstery Treatment and if you have leather orvinyl, you will want to use Dri Wash ‘n Guard® Leather and Vinyl Treatment.                                                                                                                                                                                       Back to top

Let’s start with FABRIC INTERIORS…Spray the Fabric Cleaner directly onto the area you wish to clean and with a soft brush work the product into the material to remove stubborn stains.

On more stubborn areas such as the edges of seats, headrests, etc, spray on the product and let stand for a few moments…then continue to brush gently in until dirt has been removed.   With a soft terry cloth towel, roll it up into a “TUBE” shape and from the center outwards, draw the towel over the surface to remove any excess dirt.   Repeat process as necessary.

Use this same process for carpet and inside door panels and then proceed to front passenger compartment.   For added protection, Spray Dri Wash ‘n Guard® Fabric, Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner onto the now clean surfaces and let dry.  You have just added a UV protection to the material and the additional product will double as an interior freshener.                                                                       Back to top

As a final note on the Upholstery, Fabric and Carpet Cleaner; prior to wrapping up the interior detail, we like to spray some product into the interior open space to eliminate any residual odors that may linger.  This fabulous product also doubles as an air freshener leaving your vehicle with that “NEW CAR” fragrance we have long forgotten.

(Sometimes we even have to clean up after our Director of Public Relations....Little Hawg)                                                                                                                                                          Back to top

Now on the LEATHER and VINYL INTERIORS…As previously stated you want to begin by vacuuming the interior. For leather and vinyl interiors our product of choice is Dri Wash ‘n Guard® Leather and Vinyl Treatment.  To begin with spray the product onto the surface and with a terry cloth towel wipe until dirt and smudges are removed. With a clean towel buff off any residue.  For a deeper cleaning action HAWGWASH, LLC® recommends using a “Mr. Clean Magic Eraser” which can be found in most grocery/retail stores such as Wal-Mart.  It is usually found in the Household Cleaner Section.   The “MAGIC ERASER” will add to the cleaning ability of the product and provide a like new appearance to your leather or vinyl.

Note:  As in all Dri Wash ‘n Guard® vehicle care products…the Leather and Vinyl Treatment will add UV protection to the surface. It is also a great de-greaser for those stubborn areas such as door jams and vinyl or rubber floor mats.                                                                                                                                           Back to top

Now…Hang in there…we are just about finished.  Our attention will now be directed to an area we see all the time while driving our vehicle…the dash board area and console.  We like to spray the Leather and Vinyl Treatment onto our 1” paint brush and “GENTLY” brush the dash board to remove dust, dirt, finger prints, etc. Any residue can then be wiped off CAREFULLY with a micro fiber cloth.  For additional luster, repeat the process with Dri Wash ‘n Guard® All Weather Tire and Trim Treatment and buff.

For the lenses on your gauges and instrument cluster…the product of choice is Dri Wash ‘n Guard® Ultra-Ion.   Just wipe on and buff off as if your were doing your glass.                                             Back to top
